Standard Chair

One of the most appreciated Vitra originals, the Standard chair is a true story of longevity. With its solid structure and very simple design, the chair created by Jean Prouvé in 1934 remains today as relevant as when it was created.

Currently presenting three versions, Standard has always adapted to the needs and moments of history. Proof of this is the Tout Bois edition - created entirely in wood during World War II due to the lack of metal - and the Standard SP, developed by Vitra to offer a more accessible and resistant version, with a plastic back and seat.

However, the version in metal and wood is the one that best sums up the spirit of Jean Prouvé. An engineer and designer, the Frenchman has always been fascinated with the mixture of industrial material such as metal with the warm look and tactile feel of wood.

Due to comfort and unmistakable design, Standard continues to be a regular choice for projects, such as the KPMG headquarters in Lisbon, where a set of chairs makes a difference in the cafeteria entrance area (K Lounge).
